DETAILS AND OBJECTIVES OF ‘PROPHETISM IN GHANAIAN PUBLIC LIFE’
Background

The marriage between the Church and State has been with many nations since time immemorial; Ghana not being an exception. At various stages of national development, leaders and citizens have been influenced directly or indirectly by the use of spiritual activities such as prophecies. For instance, through our national political history, elections hardly pass by without any public prophetic declarations. In recent times, the nation has witnessed the upsurge of prophetic utterances bordering on the demise of high profile social personalities and leaders of key institutions of state such as the police.

This trend has been facilitated by easy access to social media and this has led to a general state of suspicion, anxiety, fear and panic.

Response

Kingdom Equip Network which promotes Ethical Church and National Governance is organizing a Press Interaction which would bring together Clergy, Academics, Lawyers, Security Experts and Media to among others address the following:

  • Throw light on the theological, legal and security implications of this phenomenon;
  • Offer counsel to the Clergy and populace in the face of the growing anxiety, fear and panic;
  • Recommend ways to confront the menace from an institutional and personal perspective.

This interaction is primarily a public education exercise and neither the organizers nor the speakers’ seek to exercise the power of an Apostolic Council.

Format

The interaction will have two main segments namely;

  • Presentation of short statements
  • Questions and Answers

There would be three statements covering the implications and recommendations on the phenomenon from the following perspectives:

  • The Theological (20minutes)
  • The Legal (10 minutes)
  • The Security (10minutes)

It is important to note that views expressed by individual speakers are not representative of the views of the organizations in which they all work.
